Consultancy
With extensive experience in the archival world we are able to provide consultation services to clients that require guidance on the best practice with regards to preserving, restoring and distributing their archival content. This extends to both video tape and film archives.

Assessment 
We offer a full inspection to determine film condition, (including chemical analysis to quantify presence of silver complex and residual hypo in black and white films and the relative stability of dyes in colour), and we will then present a condition report to allow the client to make a considered judgement on how to proceed.
For video content our assessment may include sourcing, configuring and testing the correct format tape machines to determine the best way to proceed.

Film Repair 
Repair and physical stabilisation of both nitrate and safety film in any format.

Film Preparation
We prepare films for printing, video transferring and scanning.

Technical Selection 
We offer complete technical selection facilities and personnel.
A full analysis of the various film elements, image and sound, of a title is made in order to produce a report indicating the best path/elements for the restoration/reconstruction of the film analysed.

Cleaning
As well as ultrasonic cleaning machines, PresTech has a department for hand cleaning and chemically restoring film.
Certain types of deposits can be so embedded in the film emulsion that only with careful manipulation can they be removed without damage to the emulsion structure.

Chemical Restoration
Along with chemical treatments for scratch reduction on abraded emulsion, we also offer washing and re-conditioning.
We can provide a chemically inert method for the removal of lacquers that could have trapped particles or are chemically active, impairing film printing and conservation.

Grading
Grading is a speciality at PresTech and we offer both film and digital grading services.
We are able to grade for both black & white and colour films.
We offer facsimile grading, when a reference source is available, and grading research when it is not.
We are the only facility in the UK able to offer Tri-strip Technicolor grading as well as specialist grading as preparation for tinting and toning.

Tinting and Toning 
A very specialist service we offer is tinting and toning. Due to the complexity and delicate nature of this work we provide assessments to determine the correct process required.
We offer facsimile tinting and toning services as well as the more cost effective Colour Negative tinting and the Desmet Colour Process.

Printing   
We are optical printer specialists, as such we offer composite printing, tri-strip re-combining works, black and white colour separation.
We are equipped with liquid gates for all formats and we are able to print most of the obsolete formats:

35mm
70mm
Our equipment has been custom designed to allow us to run safely any degree of shrinkage.

Quality Checking 
We offer both digital and film quality checking of image and sound elements.

Nitrate
With years of experience handling Nitrate material we are able to offer our clients the full range of preservation & restoration services as well as being licensed to handle, store and ship the material. We are also able to provide consultancy on the best way to manage Nitrate stock.

Digital Repair & Restoration
Digital technology allows us to correct problems such as colour fading, image unsteadiness and printed dirt, problems that cannot be tackled efficiently by other methods.
We can scan up to 6.5K resolution in all formats, including Vistavision, using specially modified film transport that can handle shrunken film safely. We also have liquid gates to eliminate scratches during scanning. Because we have such a strong background in film, we are able to ensure your film is prepared, cleaned, rewashed or polished as necessary before scanning thus reducing the time spent in digital restoration.
